Donate to Club Dock

Price range: $50.00 through $2,575.00

This year we lost a legend of the ski club, Brian Welch, who played a huge role in building and maintaining SLSBC over many years. In an incredibly generous gesture to honor Brian, Julie Welch, has donated $50,000 to the club toward the revitalization of the dock. This accelerates our plan to repair the dock, and the executive agree that we have a window to complete the project for this summer.

In an effort to reach our fundraising goal quickly, families or individuals can now support the project through a $2,500 plaque purchase, which will be incorporated into the dock.

If you would like to support the replacement of the dock by purchasing a plaque:

By Credit Card: Select Plaque Purchase as the Donation Amount below.
(A $75 credit card processing fee will be added.)

By e-Transfer: Send $2,500 to info@slsbc.ca and save the credit card processing fee.

Description

During the dock and boathouse DMP process, we have become aware that the ski club dock needs to be repaired. The swiya Lakes Stewardship Alliance (sLSA) and Sakinaw Lake Community Association (SLCA) have come together with the Ski and Board Club to address a very important project for our community.

Although all three groups are in early discussions, there is full support for the concept of upgrading the ski dock, removal of styrofoam and bringing it up to a standard that would support use by emergency services helicopters for fire , medical emergencies and other emergency needs. We have not done all the research so anyone with knowledge in this area, we would appreciate your input.

The ski dock is also used for other community purposes (such as the upcoming fire pump demo), community meetings and of course, the concerts we all enjoy each summer. The major dock upgrade will need the financial support of the entire community.

The Ski Club has again arranged for two summer concerts on July 26th and August 2nd. It would be a great time to see if there is community interest in the concept of a potential emergency upgrade. The concerts are currently funded by members of the ski club and we are asking non-ski club members to consider donating, whether you attend or not. All donations will go towards the ski dock upgrade/repairs.

We do not have a budget for this venture yet but wanted to see if there was interest from the greater community, as a first step.

Thanks for your consideration.
