AGM, T-shirt contest, and summer kick-off party!

The SLSBC Annual General Meeting will be on June 1st at 5 pm (via zoom) for those who can make it. The agenda will be:

  • Review of last year
  • Financial update
  • Plans for the summer
  • Dock update
  • Next projects

SLSBC 2026 Tournament Shirt Design Contest: Every year at SLSBC we create a new tournament shirt design – and this year, we want your ideas! Make it a family GPT event – use AI, sketches, artwork, slogans, or old-school creativity to come up with the next legendary tournament T-shirt. Kids, parents, grandparents and cabin neighbours are all encouraged to join in. Send submissions to info@slsbc.ca by May 31, 2026. The winning design will be selected for this year’s official tournament T-shirt. With that, you get eternal Sakinaw glory and unlimited bragging rights!

July 4th – Summer Kick-off party – Hosted once again by Selina and Steve Vertes after last year’s legendary party. We’re raising the bar again this year! BBQ will be provided by Gibson’s butcher – including a special ‘Sakinaw blend’ dogs/burger made exclusively for the party. Come to the party for the latest dock project updates and to hear what’s planned for the future of the club. Also, get your swag if you have put in your orders! And there also will be limited inventory available for purchase at the party.

Tournament

Tournament Update…Again!

After reviewing members (whatsapp poll) and discussing with the executive, we have decided to postpone the tournament to next weekend. The rain looks pretty non-stop all weekend and next weekend is promising sun all day.

We apologize to anyone unable to attend due to this change and hope that most people can adjust to attend next weekend when the weather looks much better.

New tournament date: Sat, Aug 23rd

Schedule:

  • Skiing – 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM
  • Foiling/Wakeboarding – 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM
  • Surfing – 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • Ceremony & BBQ – 12:00 PM onwards

All full members are invited to compete! No registration needed. T-shirts are pre-ordered and waiting for you. Every full member gets one.

Shirt pickup: If you can’t make it to the tournament, to get your T-shirt, Val is around until Wed, Aug 20 at 5:00. Call or text her to arrange pickup (604-825-2399 or valdion@telus.net)

Annual Ski/Board/Foil Tournament – Aug 16th!

Mark your calendars! Our annual tournament is back on Saturday, August 16th and promises a full morning of fun on the water, friendly competition, and great community vibes

Who can join? All full members are welcome to participate. Head down to the ski dock to pick up your competition shirts. If you’ve registered yourself and/or your family, you will have already submitted shirt sizes and they will be waiting for you to pick up. Every full members will receive one, so come on down! Social members are welcome to watch competitors and join for the BBQ!

Boardroom Demo Days: July 26-28: *show up at the ski dock and take out the latest gear. Ski club members get 20% discount on everything at the Boardroom all year. Support our great partners and come have some fun!

Coaching on your boat July 26-28 *Block your time here to show up at the ski dock at your time! Waterski, wakeboard, wakesurf & foil!

The Marwills return July 26 *show starts at 6 pm from the ski dock. Concert donations accepted here.

Sakinaw Lake Gin is still available but selling quickly so get your bottle here before it sells out. $50 from each bottle goes directly into dock improvements and upgrades.

Summer Kickoff, Sloe Gin Launch & 2025 Sign-Ups

Summer Social!!

The weather’s been absolutely amazing—what better way to kick off summer than with our Sakanaw Lake Ski & Board Club Opening Summer Social!

Please join us this Saturday at 4:00PM, generously hosted by Steve & Selina Vertes at his place. The location of the Vertes place is shown below.

We’ll have a barbecue with burgers and hot dogs, drinks to go around (bring your favorites if you’d like!)

Pickleball Tournament #1

The first pickleball tournament of the summer is just over one month away! The tournament will be held on Saturday, July 5th at Pender Harbour High School starting at 9:00 am. There are only 20 spots available for this event – first come, first served! You must have either a social membership or full membership to participate in any of the pickleball tournaments. The two membership options give you access to all the SLSBC social events – BBQs, pickleball tournaments, etc. – but you need the full membership to access either the pro coaching during the demo days, or to participate in the tournament. You can see the calendar of SLSBC activities here.

Signup for the first pickleball tournament is open from now until Sun, June 29th. The cost is $10 which will go towards club activities, and you can register for the tournament here.

2025 Annual General Meeting
