We once again will have Karina Nowlan at the lake for her great clinics. We require a host family for the July 10-12th weekend. Karina and Cam are great guests and you may get some excellent pointers having them stay with you! You just have to provide them with a bed and some food! Please email info@slsbc.ca as soon as possible.

John Ames

Hi everyone,

It is with heavy hearts that we pass along the news that long time SLSBC member John Ames has passed away. He passed away on April 6th, it was a very sudden illness that spread quickly. He was diagnosed with acute leukemia with no real treatment options.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Ames Family at this very difficult time. The memorial will be Sunday, April 19th at 2:00 pm at Capilano Golf Course.

Tournament

2014 Annual Tournament

Hello everyone,

We can’t quite believe it ourselves, but it’s already August and the annual tournament is only a week away!

This year the tournament will be Saturday, August 16th* We’ll begin at 7AM with waterskiing, followed by wake boarding at 9:30AM, and wake surfing at 11AM. All skill levels are welcome. This is a great opportunity to show off your skills to your siblings and parents (or kids!).

For the first time, we’re also including a talent show component! Showcase your skills in anything you think you’re particularly talented at. Good examples include Trick Skiing, Pyramids, Air Chairing, and Paddle Skiing. Tubing does NOT qualify!

Entry is completely free, and participants will receive a free SLSBC t-shirt. We’re also looking for volunteers to help out. If you’re interested, email info@slsbc.ca and let us know.

We’ll follow up with an awards ceremony at 2:30PM on the ski club dock.

*Let’s hope for better weather than last year, but as always we’ll postpone it until Sunday if needed.

Reminder: FREE Introductory Lessons

Just a reminder about the FREE Introductory lessons we have available this summer.

Never tried wakeboarding before? Think waterskiing looks fun? Ready to make the jump to slalom skiing? Whatever your ability or comfort level, this summer Gord Cameron and Andrew Ames are offering FREE one-on-one lessons to help you accomplish your goals.

We welcome participants of all ages, including kids and first-timers! We’re targeting those in the developing stages of watersports, but will tailor the lesson to your current skill level. We promise to make it fun and rewarding.

Lessons are 30 minutes long and are running from 9AM – 12PM August 3rd and August 10th.

We still have room on both August 3rd and 10th, so if you’re interested sign up here. It’s completely free.

August 3rd Fireworks

Hello SLSBC Members,

Please note this is a non-sanctioned SLSBC event, no club funds were used!

Ken Johnston will be setting off a number of fireworks on Sunday, August 3rd at 11:00 pm. He will have a dock that will be floating out in the middle of the lake, directly in front of his cabin. It is the blue cabin near Sakinaw Lake road. Everyone is welcome to come and watch, please keep a minimum distance away from the dock. If anyone has extra fireworks to add, please come over and contribute!
